What is Reformers Unanimous?

This program is located at 2501 Northshore Blvd. in Flower Mound, Texas and is brought to you by experienced volunteers and staff from Temple Baptist Church. It is a wonderful, Christ-based, addictions program open to the public, and is a free ministry that even offers a "happy hour" afterward (where fellowship & food are the focus), and doesn't offer the unwanted, worldly details that are not necessary to have a good time.

Reformers Unanimous (RU for short) meets every Friday night from 7 to 9 p.m. This is an outreach ministry to the community for all who have addictions or kindly stated "stubborn habits". An addiction is defined as "Anything that you know to be bad for you, yet you continue to do it". Whether this is drugs, alcohol, promiscuity, cigarettes, binge eating, not eating, pornography, gossiping, playing too many video games, cursing, ~ you name it! Almost anything can be considered an "addiction" if left to consume ones life. RU is the largest Christ-based addictions program in the United States. Since beginning at Temple Baptist Church in May of 2007, many individuals including couples and families have begun their healing from the pains that addiction(s) brings.

The format that you will see at the RU meeting is: TALK- TALK- TALK!

First we talk to each other in a group setting through prayer and testimonies. No one will single you out or expect you to talk until you are comfortable. That is one of the best parts of RU, there is no pressure. Our time is not God’s time; we will honor and respect that.

After we have heard all the testimonies for the evening, we break up into small counsel groups – Men with Men and Ladies with Ladies. These small groups are where you can be surrounded by God’s people and trusting them to bear your burdens. You can talk in more depth of your specific issues and work through our handbooks, which lead you toward a better personal relationship with Jesus Christ. Confidentiality is very important!

Our chapter also provides a small talk group for ladies that have a loved one suffering with an addiction. This group is called L.E.A.F (Ladies Experiencing All Feelings). It takes place during the second talk. It is not for the addicted, but for the support group surrounding such a person. At RU we know what it is like for you to feel alone and suffering on your own. We are here to help!

Our third talk is through the preaching of God’s Word. The leaders, helpers and staff of RU will not be your answer to your addiction…but we know who is: Jesus Christ

He is the only source of freedom and the only one who can give you victory over this powerful stronghold.

In addition to helping adults in need, we offer a children’s program: RU Kidz Club and Teen Club. Addictions are not prejudice and will reach across any color, gender and unfortunately any age. The children’s programs teach our youth to not be enticed by the false promises that addiction(s) offers. We teach the children at their level through story telling, art projects, songs, and skits.

Additionally, we encourage you to join the second RU meeting that meets every Sunday morning at 9:30 a.m. in the Lifechanger’s classroom at Temple Baptist Church in Flower Mound.
